Training Protocols

You do not train for the WMC by merely sitting quietly. You train the baroreflex mechanism and the parasympathetic tone through targeted stressors.

Zone 2 Aerobic Base

You cannot achieve elite Decelerator times without a massive aerobic base. Elite competitors spend 10+ hours a week in Zone 2 cardio (cycling or running) to increase stroke volume and lower their resting heart rate baseline, creating a larger "drop" potential for the Sprint event.

CO2 Tolerance Training

The urge to breathe triggers a sympathetic nervous system spike. By extending the exhale and practicing apnea (breath-holding) tables, athletes blunt the body's panic response to rising CO2 levels in the blood, preventing involuntary heart rate spikes during competition.

Noise Exposure

Simulating the Distraction Resistance event requires exposure therapy. Athletes practice entering Theta states while exposed to randomized auditory stressors, typically 90-110dB white noise, crowd simulations, or abrupt klaxons.
